GB 33 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "GB 33" , 膝陽關, is represented by "Xi Yang Guan" in pinyin and "Knee Yang Joint" in english and may be found:

3 cun above GB 34, lateral to the knee joint, in a depression above the external epicondyle of the femur, between the femur and the tendon of biceps femoris.


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local Point.

GB 33 has some precautions to be considered (see our precautions list).

Avoid Moxa (MX)

While not necessarily valid clinically, ST 35 (Knee problems.  Often used with heding and the me…) are nearby.
