ST 25 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "ST 25" , 天樞, is represented by "Tianshu" in pinyin and "Celestial Pivot" in english and may be found:

2 cun lateral to the AML level with CV 8.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • All intestinal issues - constipation, diarrhea, dysentary, distention, pain, masses/accumulations of any type.
  • Irregular menstruation, painful menstruation, fibroids/cysts, fertility issues and leukorrhea.
  • Connects the Upper and Lower Warmers (pre & post natal Qi).

St 25 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. ST25, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Large Intestine Blood Stagnation, Large Intestine Damp Heat, Liver and Gallbladder Damp Heat and/or Liver Qi Stagnation

ST 25 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Colon Cancer, Constipation, Diarrhea, Dysmenorrhea (Menstrual Pain - Cramps), Fibroids, Irregular Menstruation and/or Leukorrhea

While not necessarily valid clinically, CV 8 ( Main point for extreme collapse of Yang espec…), KD 16 (Cold a/or Dry effecting the lower abdomen a/or in…) and SP 15 (Regulate the Qi of the Intestines - constipation,…) are nearby.
