TH 15 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "TH 15" , 天髎, is represented by "Tianliao" in pinyin and "Celestial Bone Hole" in english and may be found:

Midway between GB 21 and SI 13 on the superior angle of the scapula.


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local Point.


Th 15 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:

  • Intersection Point of the TH, GB & Yang Wei Channels

While not necessarily valid clinically, LI 16 (Adjunctive point with LI 15 for shoulder issues, …), SI 13 (Local point for shoulder and/or scapular region p…), SI 14 (Local point for shoulder and scapular region pain…) and SI 15 (Asthma, cough, coughing up of blood (hemoptysis).…) are nearby.
