UB 2 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "UB 2" , 攢竹, is represented by "Zan Zhu" in pinyin and "Bamboo Gathering" in english and may be found:

On the medial end of the eyebrow, directly above the inner canthus of the eye (on the supraorbital notch).

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

Local point for sinus congestion a/or headache.
Red, itchy, watery eyes - allergies.
Use in facial massage for headaches with GB 20, ST 8, LI 4, and UB 60.
Glaucoma, night blindness, blurry and/or weak vision.
Generally, needle towards UB 1 for eye disease or Yuyao for supraorbital pain.

Avoid Moxa (MX)

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. UB2, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Liver and Gallbladder Damp Heat, Liver Wind and/or Lung Wind Invasion - Wind Heat

UB 2 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Allergies, Excessive Lacrimation (Tearing), Eye Problems, Glaucoma and/or Headache

While not necessarily valid clinically, EX Taiyang (Temporal, one-sided a/or migraine headaches. Eye…), EX Yintang ( Calms the spirit - insomnia, anxiety, stress.…), EX Yuyao (Frontal headache a/or pain in the supraorbital re…), GB 14 (Frontal/temporal (ST/TH area) headaches. Eye issu…), ST 1 (Any eye issue, although ST 2 is a good alternativ…) and UB 1 (Main point for all eye disorders especially from …) are nearby.
