UB 37 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "UB 37" , 殷門, is represented by "Yin Men" in pinyin and "Gate of Abundance" in english and may be found:

6 cun below UB 36 on a line joining UB 36 and UB 40.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Strenghtens the spine and alleviates pain - low back pain, sciatic pain, local hamstring, thigh, leg pain.
  • Also used for watery diarrhea.

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. UB37, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Large Intestine Damp Heat

UB 37 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Back Pain, Diarrhea, Leg Cramps, Leg Pain and/or Sciatica

While not necessarily valid clinically, SP 11 (Used for a variety of urinary issues related to a…) are nearby.
