EX Huatuojiaji at C6 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "EX Huatuojiaji at C6" , 華佗夾脊, is represented by "Huatuojiaji" in pinyin and "Sides of Spine at C6" in english and may be found:

.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous processes of C6

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • C6 innervates the thyroid gland and is used for a range of thyroid issues - hypothyroid, hyperthyroid, etc.  Also used locally for problems down in the arm and hands, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, etc.
  • Used extensively within the Tam Healing System and Tong Ren Therapy. The cervical huatuo points are not needled as often, but used with tuina and/or tonren therapy.

EX Huatuojiaji at C6 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), Hyperthyroidism, Hypothyroidism, Shoulder Pain, Thyroiditis and/or Thyroid Problems

While not necessarily valid clinically, LI 17 (Sore throat, loss of voice, sensation of somethin…) are nearby.
